Where to Go in Yunnan

In Yunnan, you will have a great travel experience which is different from that of China Tibet tours. The following attractions should be contained in you travel plan.

1. Lugu Lake

Located in the mountainous ranges between Yunnan and Sichuan provinces about 200 kilometers from Lijiang, Lugu Lake is like a shimmering pearl inlaid in the hills of the northwest plateau in Yunnan. Many ethnic communities, such as the Yi, Tibetan and the matriarchal Mosuo, live around the lake. The path around the lake is popular among backpacking hikers.

Admission: 78 yuan

2. Stone Forest

The Stone Forest is one of the most dramatic attractions in Yunnan. It is a set of karst formations located on the outskirts of Kunming, and was once a vast expanse of sea. Limestone rose from the sea from movements in the lithosphere. They are more than 270 million years old. The scenic area is divided into several areas: Major Stone Forest, Minor Stone Forest, Naigu Stone Forest and Zhiyun Cave. Legend has it that the forest was the birthplace of a beautiful girl, Ashima, and her faithful but forbidden love.
