The Chinese Herb Market was one of the 17 key professional medicinal markets ratified by the State Council in China and is located on Wanshou North Road in Xi’an Xian travel, neighboring the exit to Xi-Wei Highway and the Xi’an Railway Station. Then with rapid developments in the economy, politics, and culture, great progress was made in the medicine industry in Xi’an over time. Soon, Xi’an came to function as a crucial medicinal material collecting and distributing center before the establishment of the People’s Republic of China. Drug stores stood in great numbers on Wanshou Street, and they offered a great variety of medicine materials which sold well in Northwest China, Northeast China, North China, and even overseas. After China’s reform and opening-up policy in 1984, the medicine industry in Xi’an grew even more prosperous as many new merchants opened stores on the street. The prices of all the medicinal materials then became more open and more competitive.

These days, the Chinese Herb Market Xian sightseeing covers an area of 450,000 square meters with a construction area of 14,591 square meters, and it consists of over 500 fixed drugstores and 1,500 temporary stalls on the street. The market offers more than 600 kinds of Chinese medicinal materials, and the daily total revenue reaches as much as 500,000 CNY. The influence of the Herb Market is great, and its selling network radiates into the distant Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region, Gansu Province, Qinghai Province, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and some Central-Asian countries.
