The Beijing Subway is a rapid transit rail network that serves the urban and suburban districts of Beijingmunicipality. The current system has only two lines and provides a relatively fast and economical way of traveling in east-central part of Shenzhen, compared to buses and taxis. It also runs to the border crossings between theShenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at Luohu/Lo Wu Station and Futian Checkpoint/Lok Ma Chau Station, where riders can transfer to Hong Kong’s MTR East Rail Line for travel to Hong Kong. The metro currently lacks access to the east side, particularly Yantian, a high tech foreign business park and busy port.
