You can eat different cuisines from all China besides the local food. But here I will introduce you the local Beijing food here. Beijing Duck, of course, the first must-eat food for many tourists.

Beijing Duck
Peking Duck is a famous duck dish from Beijing that has been prepared since the imperial era, and is now considered one of China's national foods.

The dish is prized for the thin, crisp skin, with authentic versions of the dish serving mostly the skin and little meat, sliced in front of the diners by the cook. Ducks bred specially for the dish are slaughtered after 65 days and seasoned before being roasted in a closed or hung oven. The meat is eaten with pancakes, scallion, and hoisin sauce or sweet bean sauce. The two most notable restaurants in Beijing which serve this delicacy are Quanjude and Bianyifang, two centuries-old establishments which have become household names

If you travel independently and not join in China travel deals, you can taste some snacks in the food streets.

Lv Da Gun

Lv Da Gun, also known as bean flour cake, is one of the oldest snacks in Beijing. When making it, firstly, make little dough with soybean flour and roll the dough up with sweetened bean paste inside. Then trundle it in soybean dust at last. That is the reason why it gets a strange name 'rolling the donkey' in Chinese. The cake is yellow with dense soybean flavor and is featured by fragrant, sweet and glutinous.

Noodles With Soybean Paste

Noodles With Soybean Paste, also called Zha Jiang Mian, is very popular when it comes to traditional Beijing cuisine. As an added bonus, it is not expensive at all. Zha Jiang Mian is consists of three main materials. They are wide hand-tossed noodles, vegetable pieces as well as pork.In terms of nutrition, pork is rich in protein and essential fatty acids, both of which can improve iron status in iron deficiency anemia. At the same time, noodles possess characteristics of improving digestion and absorption.Local Beijing people, especially elder ones like to eat hot noodles in the cold days and to eat cold noodles in hot weather.

Tang Huo Shao

Tang Huo Shao is one of the favorable local snacks in Beijing. Its origin is traced back as far as 300 years ago. The most famous Tang Huo Shao are those from Da Shun Zhai Restaurant in Tongzhou in eastern Beijing, which are the most favorable foods for Muslims in their pilgrim to Mecca.

In Beijing, tourists can eat snacks and cuisine with their heart content, not like in Xinjiang. If you have Silk Road tour, a part of tour falls in Xinjiang where all the dishes contain the mutton. Many tourists don't like mutton meat like me.
